Faculty openings in Nuclear Engineering at Penn State

The Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking applicants for two tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor rank. The two positions will be filled through: (i) a search in which the successful applicant will have expertise in one of the specialty areas of nuclear engineering and (ii) a search in which the successful applicant will have expertise in both mechanical and nuclear engineering in order to contribute to our already strong emphasis in nuclear power.

Applicants should have demonstrated scholarly research experience and teaching interests in nuclear or mechanical engineering.

The Department offers separate B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs in both nuclear engineering and mechanical engineering. Both the Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Programs are competitively ranked at the undergraduate and graduate levels with strong ties to national laboratories and the nuclear industry. Faculty members maintain strong externally funded research programs with many opportunities for collaboration. The University has excellent computing and experimental facilities, including the 1 MW Breazeale Nuclear Reactor at the Radiation Science and Engineering Center. Qualifications for this position include a doctorate in either nuclear or mechanical engineering or a related field. The successful candidates will be expected to teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, to develop an internationally-recognized externally-funded research program, and to contribute to the operation and promotion of the department, college, university, and profession through service.
