Risk Informed Security Workshop in October (October 15 – 16, 2013 at Stone Mountain, Georgia, USA) is sponsored by the INMM Nuclear Security and Physical Protection, Facility Operations, and MC&A Technical Divisions, in coordination with the NRC Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response.

There will be multiple presenter sessions on key topics and panel discussions including participation from the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, U.S. National Laboratories, and Non-Governmental Organizations.

At the 2012 Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul, Republic of Korea, the governments of the United States, United Kingdom, and French Republic committed to “actively engage international workshops to address graded approaches for the characterization of nuclear material attractiveness to further enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of physical protection measures” as a part of initial steps consistent with rights and obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. The October 15 – 16 Risk Informed Security Workshop will be a key element of efforts to further the progress of the three governments in fulfilling this objective. The results of the workshop will support P3 statements regarding progress toward meeting the commitment at the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit in the Netherlands.

To find additional details about the workshop, the final agenda, and to register, check the www.INMM.org periodically for updated postings.
