Matthew Cook is a scientist at the Institute for Nuclear Security and also holds a joint appointment with Y-12 National Security Complex. His educational background is in nuclear engineering, receiving his PhD in 2015 with a focus on safeguards instrumentation modeling. Dr. Cook also holds MS and BS degrees in nuclear engineering awarded in 2011 and 2009, respectively. His current research focus involves sensor integration on unmanned aircraft, autonomous searching for radiation sources, algorithm development for anomaly detection, standoff measurement techniques, safeguards measurement techniques, and various project on nuclear non-proliferation. Through INS, he also participates in educational outreach activities in nuclear security and safeguards.
